Dance Curriculum Highlights

14 Units of Study | 40-min Lessons

Our dance curriculum, Crea Movement is progressive. The units are are World Dance: Traditional West African, Swing Dance, Afro-Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical Jazz, Hip Hop, and Broadway Jazz; and Modern dance: Straight and Curved Shapes, Angular Shapes, Spiral Shapes, Percussive Energy, Sustained Energy, Suspended and Collapsing Energies, and Swinging Energy.

Embedded in dance unit are elements of creative dance (space, time and energy), elements of choreography, working as an ensemble, dance academic and content language, dance history, composition, and technique assessment.

National Core Arts Standards

Lessons aligned to standards for performance and technique, choreography and composition, connecting to dance personally and historically, and developing as an artist.

Dance Instructional Videos

Instructional videos accompany each lesson and series of movements. They include a follow-along demonstration with counts, breakdown of techniques, and instructional strategies.

We offer a variety of options, including getting-started days, summer academy, district-level training, specialty workshops and webinars.
